About the Program
The Northeast Scholarship Test helps eligible students access merit-based tuition-fee support for postgraduate study through partner colleges across India.
Based on the performance in the NEST exam, students can qualify for scholarship discounts of up to 50% on tuition fees for postgraduate programs.

How Scholarships from Colleges/Universities
As a part of the formal process and to ensure transparency and authenticity, every student who qualifies for a scholarship through their performance in the Northeast Scholarship Test (NEST) will receive a Letter of Intent (LOI) from the chosen college.
The LOI is issued on the college’s official letterhead, duly signed and stamped by an authorized representative of the institution.
It clearly mentions the percentage of scholarship awarded, which is directly based on the student’s performance in the NEST examination.
Includes the student’s name, NEST roll number, and course/stream in which admission is being sought.
Specifies that the scholarship amount applies towards tuition fees only and outlines any conditions regarding academic performance or conduct (if applicable).
The document serves as proof and commitment from the college, and can be used by students and their families for financial planning and verification purposes.
Partner college criteria
The current NEST information says institutions are considered for academic excellence, infrastructure, placement records, accreditation and rankings.
Registration: Interested candidates can register online or at an authorized center. A small registration fee is usually required.
Examination Format: The test is held once a year in a multiple-choice (MCQ) format with no negative marking.
Test Mode: Conducted in offline/written format
